Over the years, James Bond films have given the audience watching the film a glimpse into the life of a super-playboy: gadgets, spying, fast women, and fast cars. While Bond films have been turned into games countless times, none of the games provided the focus of 007 Racing. EA's latest Bond game focuses on the vehicular efforts of the 007, giving it a heavily armed and armored car and a list of goals. While the game looks like an interesting and excellent idea running, it struggles in many areas to justify a recommendation.

A little about the game

The game allows you to drive several Bond cars that have appeared in all of your movie adventures, such as the Aston Martin DB5, BMW 750, BMW Z8, Lotus Esprit and BMW Z3. Each car is a bit different, though none of them handles particularly well. Each car can be equipped with different items such as rockets, missiles, machine guns, shells, smoke screens and oil stains. Only one item can be equipped at a time, and you automatically switch to an item when you select it. This leads to trouble when you're trying to line up a rocket fire and accidentally run over a new weapon - you're forced to go through the guns one at a time, losing precious seconds. Problems with guns do not stop there. Their rockets are mounted laterally, alternating the fire from the left and right sides of your car. If you do not keep track of exactly which side of your car is the next to shoot, lining up mid-sized rocket shots is unnecessarily difficult. A set of sights would have been a great help here. Add the difficulties of aiming at the slow nature of the various vehicles of the game and you will have a recipe for frustration. Even when traveling at high speed, cars can not rotate fast enough for you to line up an accurate shot. Taking an extra hour or two to line up an outlet usually drives the cars to get too close to your car, and you will end up hurting them with nearby blasts. The game has a couple of two player modes: a standard mode of deathmatch and a way to pass the bomb.
